AWPN Launches Community Radio to Continue the Fight Against GBV

To combat all types of Sexual and Gender-Based Violence, the Association of Women Professional Network (AWPN) has finalised plans to build a community radio station throughout the state (SGBV).

The president of the Association, Hajiya Hadiza Ahmad Maikudi, recalled this during the inauguration of the association‘s state executives in Bauchi.

According to her, “The move was part of the planned crusade against all forms of Gender-based violence and to empower women in both economic and political prescription.”

The president said the effort has already been given the nod by the director general National Broadcasting Commission, Malam Balarabe Ilelah, who promised to pilot the women professionals.

Maikudi explained that the Association was established a year ago with a core mandate of exploring ways to tackle all challenges bothering women in Bauchi state.

She added that all women professionals of Bauchi indigene are qualified to join the training.

Maikudi called on traditional and religious leaders to champion to fight against GBV in the state and support women ‘s inclusiveness programmes.
