Cambridge, United Kingdom | 9 June 2026 – At the Global Power Women Forum (GPWF) Cambridge 2026, Dr. Renuka Thakore, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of the Global Sustainable Futures Network CIC, delivered a thought-provoking presentation on “Consequence Capital: Climate Finance, Human Capital Protection and the New Architecture of Long-Term Sustainable Investment,” calling for a fundamental shift towards investment models that prioritise climate resilience, human capital protection and long-term sustainable value creation.
Convened by the Centre for Economic & Leadership Development (CELD) in strategic collaboration with Wolfson College, University of Cambridge, the two-day Forum was hosted by Dr. Mrs. Ibifuro Ken-Giami, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of CELD and Publisher of Amazons Watch Magazine. Held under the theme, “Women-Powered Economies: Capital, Trade & the Future of Economic Governance,” the Forum convened influential women leaders, policymakers, diplomats, business executives, academics and development partners to examine innovative pathways for building inclusive and resilient economies.
The Forum commenced on Day One with the GPWF Private Networking Mixer & Partnerships Dinner, an invitation-only gathering designed to strengthen strategic partnerships among global leaders and institutional stakeholders. Day Two featured the Opening Plenary: Women, Power & the Architecture of Global Economies, the Insight-to-Action Roundtable, National Showcase – Women-Powered Economies in Action, and Market Access, Trade & Capital Pathways, providing a platform for practical solutions to today’s most pressing economic and development challenges.
During her presentation, titled “Consequence Capital: Climate Finance, Human Capital Protection and the New Architecture of Long-Term Sustainable Investment,” Dr. Thakore challenged conventional investment models by advocating for financial systems that deliver measurable social, environmental and economic impact. She emphasised that sustainable investment must move beyond short-term financial returns to safeguard people, strengthen communities and accelerate climate resilience.
She further highlighted the importance of aligning public and private capital with long-term development priorities, noting that investment strategies must increasingly recognise human capital as a critical driver of sustainable economic growth. Her presentation underscored the need for innovative financing frameworks that support inclusive development while addressing global climate challenges.
Dr. Thakore’s contribution reinforced the Forum’s overarching objective of advancing bold ideas, cross-sector collaboration and transformative leadership capable of shaping more resilient and equitable economies for future generations.
