Celebrating the achievement of being the first Tanzanian woman to reach the summit of the world’s highest mountain – Everest, the Parliament of Tanzania invited Rawan Dakik to its sitting as lawmakers held their 60th meeting of the third Parliamentary session.

In a list of hikers who made it to the World’s Highest Peak, Dakik was the only Tanzanian, continuing with a beautiful trend that has seen her climb Mount Kilimanjaro four times, Mount Aconcaqua in South America and Mount Elbrus in Europe.

22 other climbers from the USA, Sweden, Nepal, South Africa, Canada, and Japan made it alongside Dakik who carried out her climb on March 20, 2021, intending to support children living with Cancer.

“A few years ago, if you’d ask me about climbing Everest, I would’ve probably told you that you’re mad and I wouldn’t plan on going that extreme. Here I am today, packing and getting ready for my departure tomorrow” she wrote on Instagram.

Climbing Everest proved to be a challenge Dakik could surmount as there was a lot of planning, training, organizing, a feel of mixed emotions, and cancellation at some point.
