The International Day of Women and Girls in Science is an annual observance adopted by the United Nations General Assembly to promote the full and equal access and participation of females in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics fields. The Amazons Watch Magazine is committed to continually highlighting the giant strides of women from Africa and the rest of the world. As the foremost voice for women globally, the Amazons Watch, we have been interviewing and interacting with several female leaders who have emphasised education’s importance. It should not be c an option; it should be something that everyone has access to. The International Day of Education focuses on the right to an education as enshrined in article 26 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The declaration calls for free and compulsory elementary education. The convention of the Rights of the child, adopted in 1989, stipulates that countries shall make higher education accessible to all.
Rising Stars: The Young Activists against Child Labour

Starting on the 15th of May 2022, the 5th Global Conference on the Elimination of Child Labour launched in Durban, South Africa. This particular one was unique from its predecessors; not only was it on the African Soil for the first time, but it was the first time children were involved in the deliberations. The children and youth present at the event spoke extensively about their own experiences with child labour in their countries and what their peers experience. They all represented millions of children in and out of child labour. Amongst these young activists, a few stood out, with significant positions in youth organisations, national podcasts, and major strides in their work against child labour.

On the second day of the 5th Global Conference on the Elimination of Child Labour in Durban, the loudest message and most common word was COLLABORATION. The deliberations, featuring several cooperations, governments, and non-governmental organisations, began with several sessions and meetings spread across the International Conference Center.

On Sunday, 15 May 2022, the 5th Global Conference on Child Labour launched at the Durban ICC in South Africa. The conference will run until Friday the 20 May 2022. The event’s goal is to raise awareness about child labour and accelerate the progress to elimination.
