Congolese Gymnast Astride Mikoko – Aspiring for Greatness

South Africa has a poor record at the Olympics, and in gymnastics in particular. With a background of financial constraints and lack of proper training to support a great aspiration, Astride Mikoko took her first steps in gymnastics at the age of five. Her humble beginning started on the couch in her parent’s house on the outskirts of the city of Pointe-Noire, the second-largest city in the Republic of the Congo in Central Africa.

Kenyan Peacekeeper Wins UN Gender Advocate Award

Major Steplyne Nyaboga, a Kenyan Peacekeeper has won the 2020 United Nations Military Gender Advocate of the Year Award. The 32-year-old, who served in the recently ended United Nations-African Union Mission in Darfur (UNAMID), is scheduled to receive the award on the International Day of UN Peacekeepers during a virtual ceremony to be presided over by the UN Secretary-General António Guterres.

Embracing Local Content Will Make Nigeria Globally Competitive –Audrey Joe-Ezigbo

The Deputy Managing Director of Falcon Corporation and immediate past president of Nigeria Gas Association, Audrey Joe-Ezigbo has stated that embracing local content will make Nigeria globally competitive. She said this during the Africa Energy and Infrastructure Forum (AEIF) 2021 hosted by the African Leadership Magazine with the central theme “Optimizing Partnerships and Local Content Development for Recovery and Growth”. The meeting which was held virtually had in attendance private sector leaders, industry titans, academics, as well as stakeholders in the energy and infrastructure industry.

Vodafone Ghana CEO Wins Women Leadership Excellence Award

Vodafone Ghana has seen its Chief Executive Officer, Patricia Obo-Nai, honoured with the Women Leadership Excellence Award at the Ghana CEO’s Network Summit which was recently held in Accra. The award was given in recognition of her remarkable contribution to the advancement and stability of the telecommunications industry in the country since she became the CEO of Vodafone Ghana 2 years ago.
