The Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), has seen a change in its leadership composition as Dr Chinyere Almona has been announced as the new Director-General of the Organization.

Dr. Almona assumes office following the retirement of Dr Muda Yusuf who had served the chamber for 24 years, with the last 13 years in the capacity of Director-General. Describing the exiting DG, Mrs Toki Mabogunje, the President of the LCCI, mentioned that he was an astute economist who rose to become the director-general through hard work and an unrivalled dedication to duty.

Mabogunje expressed keen hope on the appointment of Dr Almona as the new Director-General noting that it was an added value to the well-established profile of the chamber. Speaking further, she explained that Almona’s appointment would further transform and reposition the chamber in this season of the new normal, and enable it to maintain its position as a leading voice of the organized private sector.

Almona’s experience spans about 30 year-experience in diverse areas, leading different programs and projects with meaningful impact. She had previously led the Africa Corporate Governance Programme of the International Finance Corporation (IFC), which provided a wide range of corporate governance reforms across 13 African countries.

Emerging as the new DG, Almona joins an illustrious list of leaders to have seen the Organization through to where it is today since its inception over a century ago.
