Many innovations today are gradually working towards closing the gender gap in different sectors. In this series of innovations for her, we bring you 37Angels; a women-focused network, seeking to close the gender gap in through profitable investments.

37Angels is a network of 50-plus women investors with a twofold goal which includes: helping startups succeed and helping more women learn how to become investors in startup businesses. The network was founded by Angela Lee, an assistant dean at Columbia Business School and a serial entrepreneur, who is passionate about helping women.

Maha Al Ghunaim is the Chairperson & Group Chief Executive Officer of Global Investment House, a Kuwait-based regional investment company which she founded with four others in 1998, offering integrated investment solutions. When she headed the organization’s debut on the London Stock Exchange in 2008, it became the first Kuwaiti company to list on the exchange. With over 30 years in the financial services sector, Al Ghunaim also sits on the boards of Kuwait University, National Industries Group, the Qatar Endowment Fund at the Qatar Foundation, and Kuwait University.

Valerie Jarrett, senior adviser to the White House and close family friend told CBS about the First Lady’s cravings, saying, “Whenever we’re on the road and we’ve had a long day, we’re looking for a way to have French fries and, if we’ve been really good, then we get to have a cheeseburger to go along with our French fries!”

Relations between women and men had begun to change, and as a result, women started to mobilize for their rights.
